Internships

Thank you for your interest in attaining an internship with the Connecticut Sports Management Group, Inc. There are multiple internship opportunities available for the 2016-2017 year. With multiple major events (Nutmeg State Games, Connecticut Masters' Games and the Holiday Festival) the need for exceptional interns is great. Come join a young and energetic full-time staff and help conduct the largest multi-sport events in Connecticut.

The Connecticut Sports Management Group, Inc. offers paid and non-paid internships, based on hours and workload, which offer outstanding opportunities to gain valuable expereince in sport and event management. Selected interns have the opportunity to earn college credit as well as the necessary experience to compete for positions in the sports world.

  • NUTMEG STATE GAMES

    • The Official State Games of Connecticut offering over 21+ different sport tournaments and competitions for Connecticut residents. Each summer over 6,500 athletes compete in this unique statewide event which will celebrate is 29th year in 2017! The "Games" will be held throughout July and the beginning of August and is Connecticut's largest Olympic-style multi-sport event.
  • CONNECTICUT MASTERS' GAMES

    • The State Games for Master’s competitors offering over 15+ different sport competitions! Each summer over 1,500 masters athletes compete in this competition which will celebrate is 38th year in 2017! The CT Masters' Games will be held in mid May and June. 
  • NORTHEAST FOOTBALL SHOWCASE

    • The Northeast Football Showcase is an annual High School Football Combine for student athletes from all over the Northeast. Our combine provides players with the ability to be evaluated by college coaches while being professionally filmed. The Northeast Football Showcase will be held in mid-May in central Connecticut.
  • CONNECTICUT HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL WEIGHT LIFTING COMPETITION

    • In 2017 we will hold the 4th Annual CT High School Weight lifting Competition. 30 High School Football Teams from all over Connecticut will compete in the Bench Press, Squat and Power Clean Events.
  • HOLIDAY FESTIVAL

    • The Nutmeg Holiday Festival will celebrate its 4th anniversary in 2016. The Holiday festival is three day Basketball Tournament for 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade boys and girls teams through out New England. The Basketball Tournament Tournament is hosted by Wesleyan Unibversity and all games are held in the Freeman Athletic Center. The Holiday Festival also offers a Ice Hockey Tournament for boys Squirt and Pee Wee age groups. The Ice Hockey Tournament is also hosted by Wesleyan University, games will also be played at Newington Arena. 
  • BASKETBALL COACHES CLINIC

    • The Nutmeg Basketball Coaches Clinic features some of Connecticut’s elite men’s and women’s basketball coaches including, Tom Moore (Head Coach Men’s Basketball at Quinnipiac University), James Jones (Head Coach Men’s Basketball at Yale University),  Anthony Latina (Head Coach Men’s Basketball at Sacred Heart University), Sydney Johnson (Head Coach Men’s Basketball at Fairfield University),  Beryl Piper (Head Coach Women’s Basketball at Central CT State University),  Mike Donnelly (Head Coach Men's Basketball at Southern Connecticut State University), James Cosgrove (Head Coach Men’s Basketball at Trinity College), and Todd Stigliano (Head Coach Varsity Boys Basketball at New Britain High School). Our outstanding presenters, will give coaches in attendance their hints and inside tips on how their teams can be more successful, while also making the game more fun and exciting for young athletes. The clinic will be a classroom style "X and O" presentation. 
  • FUNDRAISING EVENTS

    • The Connecticut Sports Management Group, Inc. holds three major fundraising events each year which include a $10,000 Cash Prize Raffle (Fall), Golf Scramble (Spring) and our Director's Club Banquet (Winter).

Job Description

Interns will have the opportunity to work with all the events mentioned above in the following capacities:

  •     Assisting with the day to day management of multiple websites / webpages
  •     General Advertising and Marketing.
  •     Supplies, Equipment, Signage, Uniforms & Ticketing.

Internships are available to present college students involved in sports and recreation management as a career. The Connecticut Sports Management Group, Inc. offers the following Internship Opportunities:

Full Time Internship (Oct., 2016 - Jan., 2017), ONE (1) Part-time Position (15-25 hours per week)

  • Application Deadline - Friday, September 30th
  • Interviews will be schedule for Top Applicants
  • Qualifications - Junior or Senior-level college students. 
  • This Internship Program will meet all Credit Requirements
  • Compensation - UNPAID

Full Time Internship (Jan., - Apr., 2017), ONE (1) Part-Time Position (15-25 hours per week)

  • Application Deadline - Friday, December 9th
  • Interviews will be scheduled for TOP Applicants
  • Qualifications - Junior or Senior-level college students
  • This Internship Program will meet all Credit Requirements
  • Compensation - UNPAID

Full Time Internship (May - Aug., 2017), FIVE (5) FULL-Time Positions (40+ Hours per week)

  • Application Deadline - Monday, January 16th
  • Interviews will be scheduled for TOP Applicants
  • Qualifications - Junior or Senior-level college students
  • This Internship Program will meet all Credit Requirements
  • Compensation - Salary Stipend
  • Interviews will be scheduled January 16th through February 3rd

Short Term Internship (May - Aug., 2017), Twenty (20) Positions (250+ Hours throughout the summer)

  • Application Deadline - Monday, April 3rd 
  • Interviews will be scheduled for TOP Applicants
  • Qualifications - Open to Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors
  • This Internship will meet all Credit Requirements
  • Compensation - UNPAID

Sports Medicine Internship (May - Jul., 2017), Fifteen Positions  (250+ Hours throughout the summer)

  • Application Deadline - Monday, April 3rd
  • Interviews will be scheduled for TOP Applications
  • Qualifications - Open to Sophomores, Juniors, Seniors and Graduate Students 
  • This Internship will meet all Credit Requirements
  • Compensation - UNPAID
